The Philadelphia School for the Alexander Technique offers a 3.5 year, 1200 hour teacher training program, endorsed by Alexander Technique International (ATI). Our training program meets 10 training weekends per year, Friday through Monday. Please see the schedule page for current training weekend dates as well as the daily schedule for training weekends. Our schedule is structured to meet the demands of students’ busy personal and professional schedules outside of their Alexander Technique training. For students who wish to deepen their knowledge of the Technique without the teaching certification, individualized courses of study are also available.
What We Do
Our comprehensive teacher training course yields highly competent and creative Alexander Technique teachers. Students can expect to receive highly individualized attention in a safe, welcoming, and fun learning environment. Our studies are in line with the Marjorie Barstow lineage of activity work and group teaching, in addition to table lessons, chair work, and walkabouts. Our regular faculty members include Meade Andrews (Rider University), Ariel Weiss (The Curtis Institute of Music), Kathryn Armour, Zoana Gepner-Muller, and Rob Gepner, in addition to the many graduates of our program who return as assistant teachers.
